According to our General Terms and Conditions, which were sent to you by e-mail together with the offer, order confirmation or invoice, you as the buyer are obliged to observe these instructions and follow the guidelines. Failure to comply with our General Terms and Conditions will result in the loss of the right of withdrawal as well as any warranty claims.

General Instructions

- The engine must only be installed by qualified personnel in compliance with the manufacturer’s specifications.

- We generally supply short blocks consisting of valve cover, cylinder head, engine block, and oil pan, without attachments and ancillary units, unless otherwise agreed in the purchase contract.

- Any attachments left on the short block (e.g. sensor) are to be regarded as a free addition, are not part of the purchase contract, and are therefore excluded from warranty.

Pre-damage

- Identify and eliminate the cause of the engine damage in order to prevent repeated damage.

- If defective units caused the engine damage, they must be replaced.

- If foreign objects caused the engine damage, the cause and origin of the foreign object must be determined, and the affected unit replaced.

- If metal shavings are present in your defective engine, the oil cooler must be replaced without fail and the oil filter housing cleaned or replaced.

- Check the fuel system, intake tract, cooling system, and oil lines for shavings and foreign objects.

- Check turbocharger, compressor, high-pressure pump, injectors, ignition system, intercooler, oil cooler, and cooling system for proper condition and function.

- Clean the intake tract, exhaust manifold, and intercooler.

Engine Assembly

- Before installing attachments and ancillary units, turn the engine over manually. If necessary, install pulley, timing belt, and high-pressure pump first.

- Check that the timing is correctly set.

- Do not confuse the TDC mark with the ignition mark when setting the timing.

- Replace the following wear parts: gaskets for attachments, filters, spark plugs, glow plugs, shaft seals, timing belt. Depending on the age and mileage of the engine, it is also recommended to replace the timing chain.

- When installing components, ensure that no excess sealant can enter the engine.

- Before installing the engine, fill it with engine oil up to MAX and turn it manually about 20–30 times. Check whether oil pressure is built up and whether the oil reaches all lubricated components of the engine.

- After installing the engine and starting it for the first time, let it idle until operating temperature is reached. Immediately check the oil pressure with an oil pressure gauge (manometer), the engine cooling, and the tightness of the engine.

- Record a video of the first start and operation of the engine.

- Check the oil and coolant levels.

- Bleed the cooling system.

- If you purchased a new or reconditioned engine, the oil and oil filter must be changed after 1,000 km.

Return of Old Part (if core deposit was charged)

- Carefully remove all operating fluids before return shipment. If fluids leak out, you will be charged the cleaning costs by DB Schenker.

- Use the same transport box for the return shipment. Secure the old part and the transport box with the supplied tension straps.

- Inform us by e-mail, stating the invoice number, when the old part is ready for collection.

- Attach the shipping label to the transport box; you will receive it from DB Schenker by e-mail.

- The deposit amount is usually credited to your account within 3 working days after delivery of the old part.

Legal Notices

- The engine is visibly and invisibly marked. Removing or damaging the markings, or opening or disassembling the engine, will result in the loss of the right of withdrawal as well as all warranty claims.

- Without prior consultation and our written consent, the engine may not be opened or disassembled. This does not apply if partial disassembly is required to install units (e.g. removing the valve cover to install unit injector elements).
